The Threat Assessment and Response (TAR) course is a program designed to help you develop an in-depth understanding of the behavior threat assessment process, utilizing conversational interviewing as a threat mitigation tool. Through a combination of teaching, small group exercises, and workbook study, you will learn a variety of proven techniques to improve your proficiency in threat assessment and response.

+ Module One: Risk Identification

In Module One, you will learn how to define the principles of risk and name the risks to your organization. You will also learn why risk reporting is essential and how to build a strong program with sustainable and repeatable processes. By acquiring these skills and knowledge, you will be able to speak with authority to leaders and gain credibility in your role.

+ Module Two: Threat Assessment

In Module Two, you will learn the principles of how to identify different behaviors that can help you spot threats before they escalate to harm. You will also learn how to explain the importance of human behavior to detect harmful people within your organization. By examining different behaviors, you will learn how to spot pre-indicators in any given circumstance.

+ Module Three: Surveillance Detection

In Module Three, you will learn the criminal attack cycle, which teaches you what to look for in assailants before they commit a criminal act. You will also learn how to identify the parts of an assailant's cover story, which will enable you to detect a person using deceit and who may have harmful intentions. By identifying different styles of surveillance, you will become more proficient in spotting a bad actor.

+ Module Four: Threat Disruption

In Module Four, you will learn all the guiding principles of conversational interviewing and become proficient in them. You will learn how to use active listening to understand a person's answer, which will enable you to spot deceit earlier. You will learn how bias affects your decisions and become aware of unconscious bias, enabling you to control these thoughts to make decisions based on facts.
