Active Shooter Awareness and Response (ASAR)

Active Shooter Awareness and Response is a course designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to respond to the threat of deadly force. The course focuses on mitigating risk, building confidence, and ultimately saving lives in the event of an active shooter incident. Participants will learn an option-based response method that enables them to select the best course of action in adverse circumstances. By establishing "baseline reactions as a victim," participants will be empowered to respond effectively during a mass shooting event.

The course is highly interactive, with participants learning about the motives of deadly force assailants, how to identify behavior-based threats, and the attacker's pathway to violence. With this knowledge in place, participants will drill on how to escape a deadly force incident, how to lock down and barricade themselves, and how to fight back using improvised weapons found within their immediate vicinity.

"Every organization should provide this training to ensure staff know how to respond during an active shooter situation."

Rob Allen – Director of Community Security, Jewish Community Relations Council MN
